The water tower: under heavy fire a Croatian youth climbed the tower to raise the national flag. It's still there.

Vukovar

Slobodan Milosovic, Communist leader of Serbia, ordered the Jugoslav National Army to prevent Croatia from gaining its independence. Tito's mantra 'brotherhood and unity' lost its relevance as Milosevic sought to impose his Communist Serb dictatorship. As Croatia declared independence Milosovic's Communist army attacked Vukovar in Croatia. The siege lasted 90 days. After the fall on 18th November 1991 Arkan and his tigers arrived to carry out ethnic cleansing. That meant mass murder.
