over our 21 days in Myanmar we have had the services of 5 guides and as many drivers. The guides have been invaluable. They all added knowledge and insight  the history - especially on the country's Buddhist heritage- and all cared for the future of their country,

On our last day but one, our guide took us to a Buddhist Monastery near his parental home. The Monks here look after young children orphaned by the civil rife in Araken and Shan states. We left them stationary items and a little money. We will keep in touch.

Our last day: as with Kipling we stood just a little way from 'The Old Moulmein Pagoda looking lazy at the sea'.
